Middle East News.Net
Thursday 3rd July, 2008 (IANS)

International Cricket Council (ICC) Thursday named former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd as the new chairman of the high-profile ICC Cricket Committee.

Llyod replaces former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who stood down in May after eight years in the role following his conflict of interest as a columnist and commentator.

The ICC board selected Lloyd ahead of other nominees, who included former Pakistan captain Majid Khan.

ICC also retained Michael Beloff as chairman of the ICC Code of Conduct Commission.
