Tibetans get out of Nepalese jail

Middle East News.Net
Tuesday 8th July, 2008

Three senior Tibetan refugee officials, recently arrested in Kathmandu, have been ordered to be released.

Nepal's Supreme Court said their detention was illegal after they were accused of involvement in anti-China activities.

A number of Western governments, including that of the US, had demanded their release, saying none of the three had participated in violent demonstrations.

Tibetan refugees have been organising regular protests in Kathmandu against the Chinese crackdown on protests in their homeland.

Nepal considers Tibet part of China.
