UAE business awards to be given in two more categories
Middle East News.Net Wednesday 20th August, 2008 (IANS)
Two new categories recognising excellence in corporate social responsibility and supply chain and logistics management have been included in an annual business award in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) announced the new categories at the launch of the fourth edition of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum (MRM) Business Award here. This takes to seven the total number of categories, the state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The other categories recognised by the award, named after Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and first presented in 2005, are manufacturing, finance, re-export, real estate development and construction.
'The inclusion of new categories is in line with the Dubai Chamber's vision and the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and adds value to the already existing categories,' DCCI director general Hamad Buamim said while launching the fourth edition of the award.
He added that the award was gaining in popularity with local business houses 'as they know the awards are based on the high business performance model'.
Last year, 209 companies were nominated for the then five categories of the award.
