MOSCOW, Russia - The number of people killed in the college attack in the city of Kerch, in the Russian-annexed Crimea on Wednesday has risen to 20.

It has also been confirmed the deaths were caused by gunshot wounds. There had been conflicting reports at the time of the attack that an explosion had killed a large number of those killed. It now appears a single gunman, an 18 year old student at a technical college in Kerch, Vladislav Roslyakov, was responsible for the deaths, walking from room to room firing indiscriminately. He did however remotely detonate a small bomb before he started shooting. This nail bomb caused widespread injuries. There were conflicting reports as to whether there was a second explosion.

It was learned Thursday Roslyakov, who has been described as a loner with no friends, had bought ammunition for his rampage just two days earlier.

Officials on Thursday said the number of people wounded in Wednesday's attack was 74, making a total of ninety-four casualties. The dead included the shooter who reportedly turned his gun on himself at the end of his shooting spree.

Russian Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova on Thursday confirmed than ten of the wounded are in critical condition. Five of those ten are in a coma, Skvortsova said, adding that they would soon be airlifted to hospitals in Russia.

"Some victims' internal organs were ruptured, we're finding washers and ball bearings in their livers, intestines, blood vessels," she said, attributing the injuries to the bombing. "Limbs have been amputated, people have lost feet and shins," the Russian health minister added.

Kerch Deputy Mayor Dilyaver Melgaziyev confirmed Thursday that fifteen of those who died were students. Six of those were under 18. The other 5 who died in the attack were college employees.
