PGLDN spearheads DRRMP formulation training

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte, Aug. 15 (PIA) -- In strengthening the four thematic areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM), the Provincial Government of Lanao del Norte (PGLDN) through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) and in partnership with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-10), conducted the Training on the Formulation of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan at Mindanao Civic Center Hotel Function Hall, Sagadan, Municipality of Tubod on August 14-16, 2019.

Officers from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices and the Municipal Planning and Development Offices together with their provincial counterparts gathered for the three-day training to frame an efficient and effective management plan for the four essential components of DRRM-Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Response, and the Disaster Rehabilitation and Recovery.

Resource speakers from ODC-10, Planning Officer Dale Jordan A. Gumahad and Civil Defense Officer Purito Velez discussed the course overview, review of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management System, and the Introduction to Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Planning (Module 1), and the Funding Sources of LDRRMP (Module 2).

The second day of the training centers on Developing the LDRRMP with three sessions which include the SWOC (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Challenges); Goals, Objectives and Outcomes; and Program, Projects and Activities.

The last day covered the fourth session which was Monitoring and Evaluation.

Module 4 of the training: the Consolidation and Next Steps rounded-up the day's activity with an open forum set before the concluding activities-course evaluation and post exam.

The 17 towns registered in the activity include Lala, Tubod, Salvador, Sapad, Magsaysay, Nunungan, Matungao, Sultan Naga Dimaporo, Maigo, Linamon, Kolambugan, Baroy, Tagoloan, Bacolod, Kapatagan, Pantar, and Munai.

PDRRMO Department Head Abeliza S. Manzano said the primary objective of the three-day formulation training is to come up with a uniform Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan among all local DRRMOs of Lanao del Norte. (PIO-LDN/PIA10)
