2022 Qatar World Cup match schedule confirmed

The match schedule for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar has been released, with the 32-team tournament set to begin on November 21 and end on December 18.

DOHA, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The match schedule for the 2022 FIFA World Cup was unveiled on Wednesday, with hosts Qatar to kick off the tournament at Al Bayt Stadium on November 21, 2022.

During the 12-day group stage, there will be an unprecedented four matches per day at 13:00, 16:00, 19:00 and 22:00 local time, except for the final round of matches.

Starting from December 3, knockout matches will kick off at 18:00 and 22:00. The third place playoff on December 17 will kick off at Khalifa International Stadium at 18:00, while the final is scheduled one day later at 18:00 at Lusail Stadium.

The compact nature of Qatar 2022, with no air travel needed to travel between venues, will allow organizers to optimise specific match demands for the benefit and comfort of fans, teams and media. ■
