RAMALLAH, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Palestinians visited livestock markets this week to buy animals for sacrifice ahead of Eid al-Adha, as the Muslim festival approaches under the shadow of war in Gaza for a second consecutive year.
Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant holidays in Islam, is traditionally marked by the slaughter of livestock to commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim. But this year, as last, celebrations are subdued in many Palestinian territories, where months of conflict have brought devastation and uncertainty.
